Vertiv’s Rackmount UPS with Lithium-ion Batteries is a Sustainable Backup Power Solution for Edge Applications.
Edge computing is growing at a rate of 12.5% annually and should reach $250.6 billion in 2024. The proliferation of digital technologies and smart applications that rely on network connectivity to the cloud is driving this increased need for localized IT resources. Vertiv’s latest UPS system will not only support these new critical and complex computing environments but support the data center industry’s commitment to sustainability as well.
Liebert® GXT5 Lithium-ion UPS, 1000-3000 VA, 120V
Available for pre-order in North America, the new Liebert GXT5 is Vertiv’s first single-phase online uninterruptible power supply with lithium-ion batteries. The higher power density of lithium-ion allowed Vertiv to pack more battery runtime in the same amount of space as a typical valve-regulated lead acid (VRLA) battery. The Liebert GXT5 ranges in sizes from 1kVA to 3kVA. It also supports scalable runtime, with a 1U lithium-ion external battery cabinet (EBC).
The GXT5 UPS will provide the highest level of power conditioning and power protection for network equipment and business servers, seamlessly switching to battery backup if the quality of the input power is outside of acceptable operating levels. With a 0.9 or better output power factor (PF) and no transfer time to operation on battery, you can rest assured that your most critical assets are protected!
The GXT5 is a low-maintenance, set-it and forget-it solution is ideal for remote locations with limited onsite technical resources. In addition, its rack/tower convertible design is the perfect fit for edge or distributed IT applications – anywhere that floor space is at a premium.
Key Benefits of Vertiv’s GXT5 Lithium-ion UPS
Lowest TCO. The expected useful life of Li-ion batteries is up to three times that of VRLA batteries.
Lithium-ion batteries deliver faster recharge time, better performance at higher temperatures, and support up to ten times more discharge cycles compared to standard VRLA batteries.
The internal UPS battery offers industry-leading runtimes – up to 14 minutes at full load.
Certified to meet industry UPS and lithium-ion standards such as UL 1778, UL 1973, and UL 1642.
Hot-swappable batteries allow you to easily replace the batteries without disrupting power to the connected equipment.
Li-ion batteries are significantly lighter than VRLA and perform better at higher temperatures. This reduces the need for lower temperatures in the rack and by extension, lowers overall cooling costs.
