As the country and businesses grapple with ever changing COVID variants and protocols, one precautionary measure has remained constant and important – disinfection of common surfaces. In mission-critical environments, this includes the sanitizing of touch-based access control technology like fingerprint and palm readers, touchscreens and keypads. But using sprays or wipes indefinitely isn’t realistic or sustainable. The fact is that no one will ever want to touch publicly used access control equipment again. It’s this insurmountable challenge that is essentially killing the market for public-use fingerprint sensors and palm vein hand readers.
