Cooling, Airflow & Humidity

Cooling, Airflow & Humidity

CEG offers a full range of solutions that will maintain the airflow, temperature and humidity levels necessary for reliable equipment performance. If you are responsible for outfitting a new environment, or addressing issues in an existing facility, we can help.

Our experts will assess factors such as cooling load, air flow, rack configuration, cable blockages, and deployment of perforated floor tiles, seals, gaskets, and blanking panels.  We also take into account air conditioner placement and setup, outside air infiltration, room envelope openings (vapor barriers), and humidity levels.  From that assessment, we will provide solutions that will protect mission-critical environments from even the slightest increase in temperature.

CEG’s proven physical infrastructure solutions, along with Aurora – our patent-pending monitoring technology – are essential in safeguarding equipment, ensuring reliability and lowering the total cost of ownership.

Precision Cooling

Servers, storage units and other data center equipment require cooling and temperature stability for optimum performance. Precision air conditioning is also important in telecommunication centers, digital switchgear sites, clean rooms, labs, healthcare facilities and many specialized production and storage locations.  Increases or changes in temperature reduces the reliability of internal hardware components, leading to distorted or lost data and even complete system failure.

Our engineers will help determine the cooling environment necessary to protect mission-critical applications. We’ll then provide the best unit(s) to achieve that ideal cooling environment.

Aurora is CEG’s proprietary monitoring technology that allows you to clearly identify potential cooling or heat-related issues – in real time. It is an extremely accurate wireless monitoring and notification system because it measures air temperature, not surface temperature. The instantaneous feedback provided by Aurora is invaluable when monitoring changes or validating best-practices improvement.

Air Flow

Historically, facility managers addressed localized hot spots by over-cooling the entire IT environment. But sometimes, the issue is not the level of air conditioning output, but air flow. Blanking panels, cable entry seals, and perforated or grated floor tiles properly located in front of equipment racks are just a few issues that can impact air flow. CEG can identify airflow distribution issues and offer intelligent solutions for fixing the problem without having to adjust the thermostat.

We improve airflow at all levels — rack, row, floor and ceiling — by creating effective barriers between cold air supply and hot exhaust. Our partner relationships coupled with our own internal manufacturing capabilities allows CEG to offer the most comprehensive and diverse airflow optimization solutions.

Thermal Containment

Thermal containment systems offer another approach for maximizing the output of cooling equipment. Setting up hot or cold aisle containment systems — creating an efficient barrier between cold air supply and hot air exhaust — can have a huge impact on the health of a facility and the cost to maintain equipment at proper temperatures.

 Humidity Control

In many commercial environments, relative humidity (“RH”) levels should be maintained within a narrow range for the best performance of equipment and the comfort of the occupants.

Understanding your environmental conditions is critical in making an intelligent choice when outfitting your environment. Just some of the factors to consider include budget, room size, altitude and available water sources. CEG can guide your decision-making and help you to weigh the competing factors on what system is best suited to your budget and environmental requirements.
